England vs. USA World Cup Preview

This Friday, November 25th, will see the Three Lions of England take on the emerging soccer team USA in Qatar for the second round of matchups in Group B of the 2022 World Cup.

After a stunning start to their campaign in Qatar, the best World Cup betting sites have moved Gareth Southgate’s England into second favorites to win the tournament only behind Brazil in the latest World Cup winner outright odds.

As part of the Bookmakers.com World Cup coverage we, of course, caught up with USA soccer legend Brad Friedel to discuss the massive game on Friday and get his thoughts on the World Cup so far in Qatar.

England v USA Match Predictions

Over the course of over 30 minutes, Brad takes our host Tom Lee through his match prediction for Friday night and who he can see coming out on top at the Al Bayt Stadium in one of the stellar ties from Group B.

The USA started their World Cup journey against Wales with a 1-1 draw and will take positives from their opening performance against a Wales team that includes veteran star Gareth Bale. They were brighter in the first half before facing the dragons’ roar of Wales in the second half, conceding a penalty and having to settle for a point rather than three.

England fired home six goals against Iran but conceded two, and that will offer hope to the USMNT that they can get at the English defence and cause problems for the back line and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Brad was vindicated with his call out for Bukayo Saka to shine at this World Cup with his opening brace of goals a real highlight of the tournament so far. How will the US stop him and the other in-form English attackers this Friday?

FIFA Making Odd Decisions

Other topics for discussion included Lionel Messi’s Argentina and their shock defeat to Saudi Arabia, which was a result that nobody could have seen coming. Brad and Tom discuss FIFA's decisions surrounding armbands, beer and the refereeing standards so far, including VAR and the huge amounts of time added on in some games. As a goalkeeper, Brad’s view on the injury to Iran keeper Ali Beiranvand in their opening match and the protocols that were followed are very interesting.

We have a full suite of World Cup picks on site each day, along with the latest betting offers from the best soccer betting sites throughout the tournament, so be sure to check those out. With World Cup lineups changing daily due to injury news and suspensions as the tournament proceeds, keep an eye on our up-to-the-minute predicted teams for each match to stay informed.

Brad Friedel will be back next week on Bookmakers.com TV alongside Tom Lee to review the England vs. USA game in full and discuss what might happen next in Group B. He will also discuss how the opening matches have gone for tournament favorites Brazil, who are in action before the weekend when they start their World Cup campaign against Serbia on Thursday in Group G.

The likes of Neymar and Richarlison will be hoping to get off the mark in the Golden Boot race, and expect betting sites to react to the top goalscorer odds should they do just that against a stubborn Serbia, who will obviously want to contain the Brazilians as best they can.
