When Will FanDuel Sportsbook Be Legal in Kansas?

FanDuel will soon launch its world-class sports betting app and its user-friendly website in Kansas on the 1st September 2022. It is firmly established as the most popular online sportsbook in the United States, so sports fans in the Sunflower State are understandably excited to get involved. Read on for a FanDuel Kansas update and details about the impending FanDuel Kansas launch from noon on September 1st 2022.

Is FanDuel Legal in Kansas?

FanDuel has a license to offer Daily Fantasy Sports contests in Kansas. It has built up a large and loyal customer base in the state over several years. Many Kansans enjoy its DFS events, but online sports betting really dials up the excitement.

Kansas officially legalized sports betting in May, when Governor Laura Kelly signed bipartisan legislation. That law has now come into effect, and we are simply waiting for the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission (KGRC) to issue licenses and set a launch date.

It was always expected to be a quick process in Kansas thanks to the close links between the KGRC and the Kansas Lottery, which controls the state’s retail casinos. Those casinos will be the master licensees for sports wagering, hosting online skins, so licensing should be smooth and simple.

Given the increased popularity of NFL betting, Gov. Kelly recently revealed that regulators are working on rolling out sports wagering by Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season. However, KGRC director Todd Allen then revealed that it has not voted on draft regulations yet. The next KGRC meeting takes place on August 12, so sports bettors will hope to see the vote take place then.

The KGRC will then need to finalize the regulations, issue the licenses and complete software testing. It is unlikely to complete all of that in time for the first game of the NFL season – the Buffalo Bills at the LA Rams on September 8 – but Allen says that “stranger things have happened.” However, later in 2022 would appear to be a more realistic goal, hopefully in October some time. We will provide readers with a concrete FanDuel Kansas launch date as soon as it is ready.

Which Other Sportsbooks Will be Available in Kansas at Launch?

The Kansas sports wagering law permits up to 12 sportsbooks to launch. Each brick-and-mortar casino can host three online sports betting skins. FanDuel will operate on the master license of Kansas Star Casino, just south of Wichita. It is operated by Boyd Gaming, which owns a 5% stake in FanDuel. Boyd Gaming also has a longstanding agreement in place with BetMGM, so that will account for another of its skins.

Penn National Gaming, which runs Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, has already revealed that its Barstool Sportsbook brand will be available at launch. Boot Hill Casino has tied up access deals with DraftKings and Bally Bet. DraftKings should be available at launch, and potentially Bally Bet too. We also expect Caesars sportsbook to go live on the Kansas Crossing Casino master license on Day 1 of the new industry.

When online sports betting began in New York earlier this year, the first four operators were FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars and BetRivers, and FanDuel is normally among the first to launch.

Is FanDuel Casino legal in Kansas?

FanDuel Casino will not be legal in Kansas. Only five states – Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia – permit online casino gaming. FanDuel Casino is available in all of them, but it will not be able to add Kansas to that list unless the law changes.

What Will the Legal Age for Online Betting Be in Kansas?

The minimum age for playing FanDuel in Kansas will be 21. After the FanDuel Kansas launch, you will be able to sign up for a sports betting account quickly and efficiently. You will then able to benefit from the new customer betting offers available. Just be prepared to provide your date of birth and the last four digits of your SSN to verify your identity.
