The 2022 World Cup draw was made on Friday 1 April, with the eight groups being allocated and there's the mouth-watering prospect of England being in the same section as either Wales or Scotland. Gareth Southgate will be privately delighted that the Three Lions will be clashing with USA and Iran considering some of the other teams that they could have faced.

Meanwhile, Brazil remain outright favourites with many of the best betting sites to win the World Cup although the most successful tournament team have been handed three fairly difficult opponents in the form of Switzerland, Serbia and Cameroon. On paper, France's assignment looks easier, while Spain and Germany will meet in the group stage of the competition.

Brazil Favourites to Win 2022 World Cup

Brazil have an outstanding World Cup pedigree although it should be noted that the men in yellow have not won any of the previous four renewals. Their last success came in South Korea and Japan in 2002, with the South American outfit having only made one semi-final appearance since then.

The Brazilians will get some stern tests in the group stage when clashing with Switzerland, Serbia and Cameroon. However, they remain the bookmaker favourite to win the tournament in Qatar and there is plenty to recommend a team who are in a good place right now.

France Handed Favourable World Cup Draw

France will be well pleased with their 2022 World Cup group. Les Bleus are the reigning champions after winning the 2018 tournament and Didier Deschamps will look to lead his team into battle once again after a disappointing Euro 2020.

Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema could light up the stage in attack, with Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante looking to run the show in the midfield department once again. France will play Denmark and Tunisia along with an easy-looking qualifier which is why their odds are as short as they with many of the trusted betting sites.

England Also Among World Cup Favourites

The Three Lions reached the semi-final stage of the 2018 World Cup before losing to Croatia and Gareth Southgate's team look to be in better shape four years down the line. England have been handed a favourable group considering that they are going to clash with USA and Iran.

There could be something of a curveball considering that Scotland and Wales might lie in wait, although England are capable of going deep in this tournament and we can see Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling firing them well into the knockout phase. After losing the final of Euro 2020, it's easy to see why many new betting sites have them high up their betting markets.

Spain and Germany Set to Meet in Group Stage

Spain were arguably the strongest team of Euro 2020 and Luis Enrique's side could certainly do well in Qatar, with some bright young players coming to the fore for La Roja. They would have wanted to avoid Germany at the group stage although both teams are likely to go through to the last sixteen.

Die Mannschaft blew up at Euro 2020 after a disappointing 2018 World Cup although Japan are also in the section which look beatable opponents, while the qualifier who also lines up in Group D are likely to be beatable.

Argentina Heading For Knockout Stage After Easy Draw

Argentina will meet Saudi Arabia in Group B before clashing with Mexico and Poland. We think La Albiceleste that they can come through this section with ease and the bookies are in agreement that they will top the section.

This could be a final World Cup with Lionel Messi featuring for his country and it will be interesting to see what sort of magic he can conjure up for the tournament.

Belgium, Portugal and Netherlands All Contenders

The World Cup 2022 betting market has a wide open look about it. Belgium will look to go again under Roberto Martinez, while Portugal could well go deep under Fernando Santos and there's the obvious narrative of Cristiano Ronaldo playing in his final tournament.

Netherlands have been gifted a nice draw where the Dutch will go up against the seeded Qatar and the Dutch will now look to win the group and end up playing a runner-up at the last sixteen stage. If you are fortunate enough to receive a free bet from your chosen betting site, why not try it on one of these European giants.
