If we rewind our minds to the aftermath of the Argentines’ shock defeat to Saudi Arabia in their opening game, a World Cup final seemed a million miles away for Messi and co. The fact that they were able to pick themselves up and turn things around after that game, shows incredible character.

So, let’s get down to business. Who will win, and how do we find a bet in such a monumental game?

Well, if I’m going to be honest about it, I hope - for the sake of football - that France win. As much as I love Messi as a player and would not begrudge him winning a World Cup, I think it would be a travesty if Argentina were to win this tournament.

Other than Messi’s brilliance at times, his team have been very average and not exactly easy on the eye. France, on the other hand, are silky smooth when they are at their best, play attractive attacking football, and are simply just a better team.

The French have done me a turn on a few occasions throughout this tournament, particularly when it came to them winning and BTTS. That’s the way I am going to go again for the final. I think France will win, but also expect Messi to work a bit of magic at some stage too. 11/2 looks like a really good price.
